William Allen Ashley

Rock Hill, SC - William Ashley, 71, passed away at his home on May 28, 2021. 

A native of Swansea, MA, William graduated from Stockbridge School of Agriculture at the University of Massachusetts. He was a lifelong member of the Carolinas Golf Course Superintendents Association and Golf Course Superintendents Association of America.  He was the Golf Course Superintendent at several courses in the Myrtle Beach area before relocating to Rock Hill. He retired from the Rock Hill Country Club. William enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, golfing, and bowling.

William is preceded in death by his father, Norman E. Ashley, and mother, Yvette Ashley, both of Swansea, MA, and sister Patricia Ashley. He is survived by his wife Marilyn Byrne-Ashley of Rock Hill, his son, Sean Ashley (Amanda) of Heath Springs, daughter Courtney Ashley of West Columbia, brothers James Ashley (Anne) and Charles Ashley (Lori) of Swansea, MA, sisters Norma McNally (Brian) of Swansea, MA, and Maxine Connell (Harold) of Assonet, MA, and grandchildren, Ethan, Callen, and Avery.

The family will receive friends 1:30 - 2:30 pm on Friday, June 4, 2021, at Bass Cauthen Funeral Home, 700 Heckle Blvd., Rock Hill SC.   A funeral will follow at 2:30 pm with Pastor Ken Watson officiating.
