Valerie Kay (Hose) Romec

With a very heavy heart we share our sad news of the passing of Valerie Kay Hose Romec of Fort Mill, SC.  She became a guardian angel to her boys on February 20, 2021 at the age of 49 following a fierce (and we mean FIERCE) fight with cancer.  Valerie was a devoted mother, wife, daughter, sister, neighbor, realtor, substitute teacher, photographer, and friend.  Making every day valuable, she refused to give up and always wanted to know “What’s the plan?” as she fought hard. 

Valerie’s passion was her boys, first, foremost and unwaveringly. Marcus, Cooper and Peyton were her light and strength, and drove her passion in everything she did.

Valerie is survived by her husband, Gary Brent Romec and their children, Marcus Tyler, Cooper Troy and Peyton Tucker.

Valerie was born August 27, 1971 in Morgantown, WV to Kathryn Vannoy Hose and the late George Michael Hose.  She graduated Morgantown High School in 1989 and was active in high school theater.  She completed her education at West Virginia University with a B.A., Theater and Dramatic Arts, and M.S., Social Work.  Recently she helped families find their forever home as a realtor and was a substitute teacher in addition to supporting the Middle School Theater with custom sewn theater costumes.  She was also a photographer helping create memories of special days for high school and college graduates.  Valerie contributed to the protection from COVID by making hundreds of masks that have been shipped all over the United States.

We will miss Valerie’s determination and dedication in everything she did.  In honor of her, a Celebration of Life will be held at her community club house:
