Michael Thomas Joyce

On Tuesday, September 7, 2021, Michael Thomas Joyce, loving husband and father of 3, passed away very unexpectedly  from a newly diagnosed cancer, at age 69.

Michael was born on August 3,1952 in Wheeling,WV to Tom and Nancy (Plants) Joyce. He graduated from Warwood High School in 1970, where he played football and wrestled. He had a great group of high school friends, some he kept in contact with all his life.  He worked at Blaw Knox in wheeling, WV for 17 years. Blaw Knox closed in 1974, Mike then returned to school at West Virginia Northern Community College, where he earned a degree in Respiratory Therapy. With that degree he took a job at Carolinas Healthcare in Charlotte, NC, where he worked for 17 years before retiring in 2015.  After retirement Mike’s passion in life was his Harley.  He loved wind therapy and the group of brothers and sisters that came with it. He was the happiest when he was riding. He was also an avid music lover and collector of useless trivia.  Mike was known for his infectious laughter, quick wit and life of the party attitude. He never met a stranger.

 Michael was preceded in death by his parents Tom and Nancy Joyce, He is survived by his wife Mary Beth Joyce, his three children Heather Joyce, Bryan Joyce and wife Evette, Ashley Joyce Holmes and husband Brian, brother Pat Joyce and wife Mary Jane,  sister Kathy Whitelatch and husband Mike, several cousins, nieces, a nephew, several great nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be at at later time arranged by the family.
