Lydia Wathey Obituary

It is with a great deal of heartache and sadness that the family of Lydia Elizabeth Quinby-Wathey (64) of York, South Carolina also known as "Jill" by many, unfortunately announces her passing. She has been taken home to be with our Heavenly Father. She died on Monday April 4th at Piedmont hospital due to many health complications and cancer. She was a fighter and now one of many of God's Angels. She was preceded in death by her mother Rebekah Minor Quinby and father Pete Walton Quinby, her nephews Jeremy Quinby and younger brother Harold "Dean" Quinby and many friends of hers. She leaves behind 2 daughters Rebekah Anne "Wathey-Smith age 34, Jessica Marie Horne age 28 and 3 beautiful grandchildren she adored Matthew (Tanek) Naeem Smith, Nina Elizabeth Bankhead and Layla Ruth Horne. She has also left her eldest brother Jack LaRue Quinby and sister in law Brenda Lee Quinby and many nieces and nephews Harmony, Amber, JW, Sarah, Isabella "Izzy" and Mindy Quinby. She also left ex husband William Wathey and former stepdaughter Bonnie Wathey and current friend/partner Marion Eugene Horne "Gene" and many many friends that loved her. She has touched many hearts and quite a few would not be here without her. She was an amazing strong independent hardworking and caring, woman, sister, friend, partner, grandmother and mother that many will never forget. Anyone close to her was to be loved and cared for. Family was everything to her. She will never be forgotten and sorely missed by so many.

Please join us at her memorial service at Lake Wylie Christian Assembly, to be announced at a later time. Send any flowers and donations to them and American Cancer Society.
