In Loving Memory

Jonathan Daniel Smith, 48, of Tega Cay, South Carolina passed away on Sunday January 23, 2022. He leaves behind his wife of 23 years, Erica, and their sons Zachary, 16 and Tyler, 13.

Jonathan proudly served in the US Army Reserves, graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Geography and went on to have a very successful career in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries. Any spare time was spent with his family in the outdoors, camping, backpacking, off-roading, coaching wrestling, and leading Scouts as an Assistant Scoutmaster. He was very intentional about how he spent his time and made the most of his short years on earth, experiencing so much our beautiful country has to offer, and encouraging his brothers, his boys and the Scouts he led, to learn about and love the outdoors as much as he did. His giving spirit and legacy will live on through his sons who watched their dad set a great example for them.

As Covid numbers continue to rise, the family has opted for a small, private in-person memorial service. The family asks that you please honor them and Jonathan by watching the memorial service streamed live through the funeral home's website on Wednesday February 2, 2022 at 1pm eastern. The family is planning an outdoor celebration of life to follow in the Spring/Summer, when more of his family and friends can gather safely to remember and celebrate the life of Jonathan. The outpouring of love for the Smith family has been extraordinary and many people have asked how they can help support them during this extremely difficult time. In lieu of flowers, we would ask that you consider contributing to this fund to ensure that expenses are covered and Erica is able to continue on with the plans she and Jonathan had for their boys.
