Jerry Boyd

On Saturday, July 3, 2021, Jerry Boyd Jr., son of the late Jerry Estell and Odell Rainey-Boyd, passed away at Hospice & Community Care in Rock Hill.

Services will be July 15, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home, 700 Heckle Blvd, Rock Hill SC. His burial is at 2:00 p.m. at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Rd Columbia, SC.

Born September 7, 1941 in Rock Hill, SC, Mr. Boyd attended Emmett Scott High School. He honorably served 20 years in the United States Navy and retired from service in 1980. He later attended York Technical College for machinery and was an industrial painter until 2017 with Mid-State Coatings.
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Melzetta Boyd, siblings John W. Boyd, Annette Bryant, Phyllis B. Davis, Yvonne Boyd-Green, son Stanley Thomas and grandsons Guy Gundy and Anthony Thomas.

Jerry Boyd Jr. leaves his cherished life, legacy and loving memories to his family and children Alexis (Millicent) Thomas of Atlanta, GA, (Patricia) Thomas wife of the late Stanley, Christopher (Helen) Thomas of Washington D.C., Marylin Thomas, Bebe (Willie) Holloway, Kelly Thomas, Angela Thomas, Jacqueline Thomas, twins Edward Boyd and James Boyd of Rock Hill, Gerald (Tara) Boyd of Myrtle Beach, SC; sister Patricia Hinton of Rock Hill; 32 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, caring friends and his dog Sanchez.. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Boyd's name to Union Baptist Church, 1195 Hands Mill Hwy, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
