Dorothy Gibson Obituary

Dorothy Allen Gibson, age 85, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2021 at Atrium Health in Pineville, NC holding the hand of her devoted husband of over 61 years Bruce.  “Dot” was born on September 26, 1936 in Norwood, NC where she lived with her loving family, parents Green & Ruth Allen and her two brothers, WC and Donnie. She enjoyed traveling with Bruce during his Navy career and was happy to settle in Charlotte where she could be close to friends and family.  She enjoyed spending time at the beach – walking, riding bikes and taking Rachel to ride the rides. She enjoyed taking photos of family and allowed us to have many remembrances of being together.  She leaves a legacy of kindness and grace and will be missed by many – as a cherished wife, mother, sister, Maw Maw, Aunt Dot and friend.

Dot is survived by her loving husband, Bruce Gibson Sr.; her son, Bruce Gibson, Jr. and wife Suzie of Fort Mill, SC; her brother Donnie Allen and wife Connie; granddaughter Rachel; and nieces and nephews that were very dear to her: Sherri, Brian, Trey, Julie, Drew, and Weston.

The family would like to thank the compassionate staff at Atrium Health in Pineville for their kindness and dedication.

There will be a memorial service for family members at a later date.
