Calvin C. Price, 81, of Chester, South Carolina, died Thursday, February 11, 2021.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 15, 2021, at Grandview Memorial Park, in Rock Hill.
He retired from Ruth’s Salads after more than 32 years of service at the company’s Chester facility. An outstanding athlete at Fort Mill High School, he excelled in many sports, with baseball being his first love. The Fort Mill Times in its Remembrances column has often recalled him pitching a no-hit American Legion game in July 1957, striking out 19 batters. Calvin was a committed University of South Carolina Gamecock fan, supporting all teams with his favorite being football. He was a Master Mason and Shriner, with over 40 years of membership, including service over the Chester Lodge.
Born on September 23, 1939, in Pineville, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Cletus Price and Pauline Smith Dameron of Fort Mill, S.C. He is survived by his niece, Debra (David) Allen of Columbia, S.C. He was predeceased by his mother and step-father, Hubert Dameron; his sister Dolores Graham; and his nephew Jimmy Wright. The family would like to extend special appreciation to the staff of Lighthouse Hospice Group and Carolina Gardens of Lexington, his residence since April 2020.
