Betty Alma Shields

Betty Shields, age 92, passed away on September 16, 2022 at Wellmore in Tega Cay, SC.

Betty Alma Huff was born a New Year’s baby in 1930 and grew up in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, Canada. She attended Ontario College of Art where she met Ian Shields of Toronto, Canada. They shared a love for art and travel and were happily married for 67 years residing in Canada, England and Germany before moving to the United States. They settled in Connecticut where they were members of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and the Darien Dance Club and eventually moving to Centerville, MA to enjoy their retirement. In 2016, they moved to Tega Cay, SC to be close to family.

Betty Shields is survived by her daughter Fawnne Esbitt of Charlotte, NC, son Grant Shields of Charlotte, NC, daughter Nikki Smith, son-in-law Ian Smith, and granddaughter Kaitlyn Smith of Tega Cay, SC.

A memorial service will be held on Friday at 2:30PM at Forest Hill Church located at 2099 Carolina Place, Fort Mill, SC followed by a reception at Nikki and Ian Smith’s family home in Tega Cay, SC.
