Rock Hill, SC – Mr. Arlen “Buddy” James Totherow, Jr., 61, died Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Piedmont Medical Center.
Visitation will be from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Whitesell Funeral Home.
The family will be at the church on Sunday, November 12, 2023 to receive friends at 2:00 PM.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 pm Sunday, November 12, 2023, at Westside Baptist Church, Chester, SC, with the Revs Mark Chapman and James Locklair officiating. Burial will follow the services at Chester Memorial Gardens.
A native of Chester, SC, Mr. Totherow was a son of Eula Mae Mull Totherow and the late Arlen James Totherow, Sr. He was a veteran of the United States Army, where he served in a support role with Special Forces. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and in recent years, he has been learning to bowl. He was an Atlanta Braves fan and a South Carolina Gamecock fan. Family was important to him, and he loved supporting his grandchildren in their events.
He is survived by his mother, Eula Mae Mull Totherow; his fiancée, Peggy Patterson; a son, Andrew Totherow and his wife, Amanda; a daughter, Misty Tignor and her husband, Nathan; a brother, James E. “Eddie” Fowler, Sr. and his wife, Dora; a sister Marie Kendrick; a sister-in-law, Deena Totherow(Glenn); seven grandchildren: Sophia, Ella, Mia, Braxtyn, Keegan, Lakelynn, with one on the way; and three nieces and nephews, Jamie Fowler, Jr (Kelly), Beth Bridges (Joe), and George Glenn "Tripp" Totherow.
He is preceded in death by his father, Arlen James Totherow, Sr; his brother, Glenn Totherow; and his sisters, Shirley Rothrock and Ann Erdman.
