Alana and Bert Black Obituary

Alana Monvan Black, 73, of Edgemoor, SC. peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 14, 2021. She was born on April 28,1948 in Hamilton, Ohio as the daughter of the late William and Monvan Magee. Alana grew up in the mountains of southeastern Kentucky, and claimed it well by describing herself as "I Am Mountain."

Alana loved the Lord, her husband, son, animals and friends fiercely. She had a spark in her that was contagious to all those that she meet. Yes, Alana had little tolerance for being rubbed the wrong way, which made her such a protective wife and mother. She learned what was important in life were, and applied them to her own life daily.

Alana loved sitting on her front porch with her dogs Cinnamon and Doc, her cats Jippy, Bella and Garfield. Feeding the hummingbirds was a joy of hers, as well as picnicking on rare occasions in new places.

Most important to her was her family, and she will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, daughter, and friend.

Alana and her son Bert Wayne Black entered the gates of paradise just 24 hours apart.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Wayne D. Black Jr. and her mother Monvan Magee of Edgemoor, SC, one sister; Mena Robbins of Richburg, SC, and one nephew Bradley Robbins of Union, SC.

Bert Wayne Black, 42, of Edgemoor, SC peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, October 15, 2021. He was born on February 21, 1979 in Augusta, GA. Son of Wayne Douglas Black and the late Alana Monvan Black.

Loving by nature, Bert never met a stranger. Bert spent the majority of his life chasing trains and baseballs. He knew all there was to know about trains, and made memorable connections both on and off the baseball field. We will never know the true impact he left in those communities.

He leaves a lasting legacy to be cherished by his survivors, his father, Wayne D. Black Jr., his grandmother Monvan Magee, of Edgemoor, SC, his aunt and uncleMena and Brad Robbins of Richburg, SC, and his cousin Bradley Robbins of Union, SC. and a host of friends who truly were like family.
