William James Barone (Bill) passed away on Tuesday, May 6th, with his loving wife Kerrie and sister Mary beside him. Bill was born on July 12th, 1953 in Mount Morris, New York, to Tony and Eleanor Barone. His skinny legs and big heart quickly grew…and grew just like his love of golf, the Buffalo Bills, and his endearing friendships. Bill graduated Saint John Fisher College and majored in Sociology – a very fitting degree if you knew him. Bill loved people. Bill was the best storyteller, and when Bill, Uncle Billy, or Dad was around, you were seen, you felt loved, and you were laughing. After college, he joined the audit staff for General Motors and stayed loyal for his entire career. In 1982, he met the great love of his life, Kerrie, when she threw pennies at him from across the bar all night. Over the next 17 years, they welcomed three children as Bill climbed the corporate ladder. Bill was deeply proud of his work and of being able to provide for his family. In September of 2002, Bill was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma Multiforme – an aggressive and ruthless disease that claims most within a few months. Yet Bill got another 23 years full of family, faith, and friends. He spent his later years dedicated to his community and serving his faith through the Knights of Columbus. Bill is predeceased by his son Anthony and is survived by his wife Kerrie, his children Sarah and Will; his siblings Tom, Marilyn, and Mary; dozens of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and countless friends. A ceremony celebrating Bill’s life will be held at 2pm on Friday May 9th at Saint Philip Neri in Fort Mill, SC. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Camp Care Charlotte (https://campcare.org/).
