Fort Mill, SC - Mr. Walter Vance Bennett, “Butch,” 73, of Fort Mill, SC, and formerly of Rock Hill, SC, peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, February 9, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Family will receive friends 4 pm Saturday, February 14, 2026. at Sisk Memorial Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow at 5 pm with the Rev. Reid McAteer officiating.
He was born November 8, 1952, in Rock Hill, SC, the son of the late Walter “Billy” Bennett and Ruth Bennett. Butch was always kind and welcoming to all and never met a stranger. He was ready with a smile for everyone around him. He was a generous man, always willing to do and give whatever was needed. He loved nature, whether camping in the mountains with his church group, spending time at the beach with his family, or fishing with his friends.
Butch was a faithful member of Sisk Memorial Baptist Church for over 50 years. He served faithfully in many capacities, including as a deacon, and was a beloved cook and volunteer with the men’s ministry and RAs.
Most important to him was his family, and he will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend.
He leaves a lasting legacy to be cherished by his wife of 53 years, Bessie Bennett; daughter, Candie Jurey and husband, Brian Jurey, of Fort Mill, SC; son, Scott Bennett and wife, Amy, of Fort Mill, SC; grandchildren, Kyle Bennett, Emma Bennett, Skyler Jurey, Lexi Bennett, and Jacob Bennett; and great-grandchildren, Khloe Bennett, Bentley Bennett, and Kylie Bennett.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to all the nurses, physicians, staff, his beloved church family, and friends for their unwavering, compassionate, and supportive care. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
