Mrs. Voncil J. Bagley Funderburk, age 97, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026, in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Born on August 17, 1928, in Rock Hill, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Jennie Bagley.
Voncil graduated from Rock Hill High School and went on to have a career at Celanese in Rock Hill, where she worked until her retirement. A devoted Christian, she was a faithful member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Rock Hill since 1957. Her unwavering faith and dedication to her church community were central to her life.
Voncil was predeceased by her beloved husband of 60 years, James Funderburk Sr.; her cherished daughter, Dale Funderburk; her parents; and all her siblings, Ed Bagley, Margie Weaver, Rick Bagley, Grady Bagley, and Bonnie Stowe.
She is survived by her son Jim Funderburk Jr. (Grace); her daughter Debbie Wakefield(John); four grandsons: Charlie Funderburk (Becky), Woody Funderburk (Courtney), Brandon Wakefield (Jenny), and Cameron Wakefield; as well as great-grandchildren Emma Grace Funderburk, Grant Funderburk, Landon Funderburk, Riley Funderburk, and Josh Hamilton. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who will fondly remember her kindness, love, and warmth.
Voncil’s life was marked by a steadfast devotion to her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt who found purpose in taking care of those around her. An avid reader with an enthusiasm for crafts, she also enjoyed growing roses and caring for plants. Her gentle spirit touched those who met her.
May the memory of Mrs. Voncil Funderburk bring comfort to those who loved her. A Visitation will be held on March 10, 2026, from 07:00 PM to 09:00 PM at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home, 700 Heckle Blvd. A Graveside Service will be held on March 11, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Grandview Cemetery, 620 Cherry Road.
