Virginia Jane Bliss Holtz, a beloved daughter, wife, cousin, friend and devoted member of her community, passed away peacefully on Oct. 29 at the age of 76 at the HarborChase at Riverwalk assisted living facility in Rock Hill, SC.
Jane was born in Camden, NJ in 1950. She grew up in nearby Barrington and was graduated from Haddon Heights (NJ) High School. From there she graduated from the Helene Fuld School of Nursing, after which she received her PhD from the University of Pennsylvania.
She was an employee of Holy Spirit Church and Meridian Health, and a Professor of Nursing at Rutgers University. A prominent expert in the field of Institutional Nursing, she traveled the country giving lectures and became a published author.
But for all her professional success, it was her loving marriage to her husband Albert Holtz that formed the centerpiece of her life. Together they shared many interests, two big careers, a deep faith, multiple felines and a deep and abiding love of travel. Never have two people seemed more suited for one another.
Jane and Al lived in Jackson Township, NJ for many, many years and then, tiring of the Northeast’s winters, decamped to Fort Mill, SC, where they continued their travel-filled life and became communicants at St. Philip Neri Church in Fort Mill, SC.
Tragically, Albert passed away in December of 2024. This naturally hit Jane very hard, but she soldiered on and successfully transitioned to the HarborChase at Riverwalk assisted living facility in Rock Hill SC in May of 2026, where she passed away on Oct. 29. Any and all donations in her name can be made to St. Philip Neri.
A funeral service and burial was held on November 2 at Rock Hill Memorial Gardens in Rock Hill, SC, where she is buried next to her beloved husband Albert.
Jane will be terribly missed by all who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace, and may her memory be a blessing.
