Vickey Fenty

Vickey Treadwell-Fenty, beloved wife, sister, friend, and true original, passed away peacefully on June 14th, 2025, just shy of her 70th birthday. Born June 28, 1955, at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, Vickie grew up in Austin, Texas, where she graduated from Crockett High School with the class of 1972-73. Even as a teenager, she stood out—graceful, witty, and determined, with a magnetic personality that drew people in. After high school, Vickie made her mark in the world of modeling, earning her place as a finalist in the Miss Austin beauty pageant in 1973. But her heart was restless for bigger horizons, and the following year she launched her career as a flight attendant. Known throughout her life as Vickie Fenty or Vickie Treadwell, she graced the airline industry with both beauty and brains. Her adventure as a classic flight attendant spanned 35 remarkable years. She began planting seeds of professionalism with Texas International Airlines, dazzling customers with her warmth and making everyone feel like they were flying First Class—even when all they got were peanuts. 

Her light continued to shine at Continental Airlines, and she finished her career with United Airlines, always raising the bar for service and camaraderie in the skies. It was in the mid-1980s, during her time based in Newark, that Vickie met the love of her life and soulmate, Charles Fenty. They married in 1987, beginning a partnership built on laughter, loyalty, and a thirst for adventure. Together, they traveled the world as “The Cruising Couple”—living at an elite level, with butlers, private dinners with the Captain, and the best cabins imaginable. Their relationship was a class act in every sense, defined by deep affection and a shared love of life. Vickie’s warmth extended far beyond her career. Friends say she lit up every room, never forgot a birthday, and treated strangers like family. 

She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Glenn Treadwell Sr.; her mother, Thelma Marie Treadwell; and her brother, Tracy Treadwell. She is survived by her loving husband and soulmate, Charles Fenty; her brothers, Donald Glenn Treadwell Jr. and Terry Treadwell; her best friend and chosen sister, Myrna Nicely – Fulcher; and a wide circle of friends and extended family who already miss her radiant presence. The golden gates opened for Vickie exactly a week before what would have been her 70th birthday. May God bless her spirit and soul as her journey continues through Heaven. Vickie’s life was a journey—full of grace, laughter, and open-heartedness. Her memory remains a comfort and a beacon for all who loved her.
