Thomas Franklin Smith, Sr

York, SC – Mr. Thomas Franklin Smith, Sr., 72, died Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at his home.

The family will receive friends 6 – 8 pm Friday, November 22, 2019, at Whitesell Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Saturday, November 23, 2019, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, York Ward with Bishop Bob Dawson officiating. Burial will be in Fort Jackson National Cemetery at a late date.

A native of Winnsboro, SC Mr. Smith was a son of Vera Rebecca Sanders Smith and the late Thomas Woodrow Smith. He was an U. S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for 42 years. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, of 48 years, Sandra Smith; seven children, Tammy Knight (Dana), Carla Whaley (Chris), Thomas Smith, Jr. (Jessica), Sabrina Broom (Patrick), Joshua Smith, Cinda McKeown (Nevin), and Bradley Smith; two brothers, Harris Smith and Floyd Smith; 21 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded by a brother, Lannis Smith; and a great-granddaughter, Paisleigh Lollis.
