Sean Nicholas Caruso, born July 12, 2009, entered eternal rest on January 14, 2026, surrounded by the boundless love of his family.
From the very beginning, Sean faced life’s challenges with extraordinary courage, a gentle spirit, and a smile so radiant it could light up any room—often paired with the warmest hugs. His joy was unmistakable and deeply felt by all who knew him.
Sean had a deep love for school. He especially loved riding the bus to and from school and being there each day, where he formed meaningful connections and friendships. He proudly participated in Special Olympics and Club Unify, earning multiple medals and delighting in the recognition and attention he received.
A true Disney enthusiast, Sean found magic and happiness in all things Disney—especially Mickey Mouse. Family trips to Disney, taken multiple times each year, were among his most treasured experiences, filled with laughter, favorite rides, and unforgettable moments with larger-than-life characters. Sean also loved music and could often be found singing along in the car, most especially to his favorite song, “Free Fallin’,” bringing smiles and laughter to everyone around him.
Sean is lovingly survived by his parents, Nick and Kendra Caruso, and his siblings, Max, Zoe, Luke, Cole, and his Chi Chi, all of whom adored him beyond measure. He is also survived by his grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a wide circle of family and friends who were profoundly touched by his life.
A Catholic Funeral Mass celebrating Sean’s life will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 11:30 a.m., at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Fort Mill, South Carolina. A luncheon reception will follow at 12:30 p.m. at The Dairy Barn at Anne Springs Close Greenway.
In lieu of flowers, we invite you to consider making a donation in Sean’s memory to give back to the special needs school communities that meant so much to him. Contributions are being collected through a GoFundMe fundraiser.
Funds raised will first go toward creating a dedicated sitting and recreational area for the Exceptional Children (EC) students at Nation Ford High School, who especially love spending time outdoors during their school day. Due to the incredible generosity and outpouring of support, the initial funding goal was reached far sooner than expected, allowing the project’s scope to expand to also include a similar recreational space at Fort Mill Middle School, where Sean’s teacher has been working tirelessly for nearly two years to secure funding for an approved project without success.
These spaces will serve as places of comfort, joy, and connection—reflecting Sean’s gentle spirit and the happiness he brought to those around him. Through this gift, Sean’s legacy will continue to touch lives and bring smiles to students like him for many years to come. Thank you for honoring Sean with your generosity and love.
The family would also like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the many teachers, school staff members, and home nurses who cared for, supported, and loved Sean throughout his life.
Though his time on earth was far too short, Sean’s impact was immeasurable. He will forever be remembered for his joy, his sweetness, his perseverance, and the beautiful light he shared so freely with the world.
