Rozelle Mitchell Harper

Rozelle Mitchell Harper, 97, formerly of 1309 Winthrop Drive, passed away Friday, July 23, 2010 at Agape Senior in Rock Hill. A native of York County, Mrs. Harper was born November 29, 1912 a daughter of the late John Martin and Effie Irene Thomas Mitchell. She was employed 17 years as a cashier with Life Insurance Company of Georgia, retired in 1977 from Winthrop College (University) after 23 years in the Registrar's office as secretary for Dr. William Livingston and has been a volunteer at Westminster Presbyterian Church for 22 years where she was also a charter Member. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband John B. Harper, four sisters Jessie M. Smith, Louise M. Lipscomb, Helen M. Latham and Mary M. Walters; a brother Joe E. Mitchell; a half-brother Theodore M. Mitchell and a half-sister Edith M. Roberts. Surviving are two nieces Sally Morgan and her husband Charles of York, Faye Smith and her husband Robert of Rock Hill; two half brothers Oscar R. Mitchell of St. George, SC and Phillip B. Mitchell of York; also numerous other nieces and nephews A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Harper will held Monday at 11:00am at Westminster Presbyterian Church with Reverend Dr. Jack Basie officiating. Interment will be at 10:00am Monday at Forest Hills Cemetery prior to the memorial service. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
