Obituary

Rodney Lee Timms, age 78, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026. Born on November 2, 1947, in Anderson, South Carolina, Rodney lived a life marked by faith, devotion to family, creativity, and unwavering grace.

At an early age, Rodney accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior, and throughout his life, his greatest desire was to faithfully follow Him. He also shared his talents by serving several churches as a sound engineer over the years.

A proud Army veteran, Rodney was a gifted professional graphic designer whose creativity and attention to detail were reflected in both his work and personal life. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Winthrop University, a testament to his dedication and pursuit of excellence.

For 53 wonderful years, Rodney shared a loving marriage with his devoted wife, Vickie. During the final years of his illness, Vickie lovingly cared for him with extraordinary devotion and compassion. Through every challenge, Rodney never complained. Instead, he faced his circumstances with dignity, courage, and an enduring spirit that inspired all who knew him.

Rodney was known for his impeccable sense of style. Always well-dressed and perfectly groomed, he took great pride in his appearance. He ironed his own clothes and loved designer shoes and hats. His thick auburn hair made men envious and women swoon.

Beyond his fashion sense, Rodney was a man of many passions. He loved beautiful automobiles, treasured his beloved dog, Pepper, and enjoyed reading classic novels, including one of his favorites, Moby-Dick. He and Vickie shared a love of travel and were blessed to visit all fifty states together, creating countless memories along the way.

Rodney was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel A. Timms and Colleen D. Timms.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Vickie Timms; his sister, Mary Crocker Rowland (preceded in death by her husband, Norman Rowland) his twin sister, Patsy Dee Wilson (John E. Wilson); and his sister, Kathy Arleen Moore (James L. Moore), his brother, Marshall Dean Timms (Vicky L. Timms); along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Though he will be greatly missed, those who knew and loved Rodney find comfort in knowing that he is in the presence of the Savior he faithfully followed throughout his life.

"Well done, good and faithful servant."

Matthew 25:23
