Rodney Wayne
Ashley
December 31, 1942 – May 21, 2026
Rodney Wayne Ashley,83, of Fort Mill, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, May 21,2026. He was at home surrounded by the love of those he cherished.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Shirley Ashley, his 4 sisters and his great grandson.
Known for his infectious sense of humor and ability to brighten any room, he left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He was a man of strong Christian faith. He lived by the philosophy that there were no strangers in this world, only friends he had not met yet. He had a vast appreciation for nature and enjoyed hunting and fishing. However, his passion was spending time with his family and will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather, companion, and friend. He was a natural storyteller who loved telling jokes and ensuring that those around him were always laughing.
Above all, Rodney was a proud father. He cherished his twin daughters and often spoke of them with deep love and admiration.
He leaves behind a legacy of love through his family. Surviving are his daughters, Shirl Jacobs(Jesse) and Robin Dillinger (Chris); Grandchildren, Megan Hudgins (Wade), Matthew Gladden (Madison), Chloe Pepper, Ian Dillinger, Devin Dillinger, Lance Jacobs (Haley),and Josh Jacobs; Great Grandchildren, Westlyn, Cashton, Creed, Lincoln, and Ava; and his companion of 20 years, Peggy Lowder.
He will be remembered for his generous spirit, his dedication to his family and the joy he brought to the lives of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but his memory will live on in the stories and laughter he shared with those he loved .
A celebration of life service will be held by the family at Whitesell Funeral Home, 975 Riverview Road, Rock Hill, S.C. Arrangements will be determined soon.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to all the hospice nurses, physicians and staff. Their kindness will never be forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Creed's Life Foundation, in honor of his great grandson. Creedslifefoundation.squarespace.com
