Richard Allan Drennan, 68, passed away unexpectedly on June 20, 2026.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow Wilson Drennan and Lucille (Truckor) Drennan; his beloved wife of 48 years, Cheryl Ann (Easterwood) Drennan; his son, Keil Patrick Drennan; and his brothers, Ron Drennan and Daniel Drennan.
He is survived by his children, Nicholas (Jennifer) Drennan, Joel (Tiffany) Drennan, and Amy (David) Hardister; his cherished grandchildren, Payton, Avery, Harper, Kaelyn, Emerson, and Noah; and his brothers, Larry, Harold (Moe), Rusty, and Doug.
Richard shared a beautiful life with his wife, Cheryl. The two met while working together at Bill Knapp’s Restaurant and built a life centered on love, faith, family, and devotion throughout their 48 years of marriage.
A talented cook and baker, Richard found great joy in preparing meals for others, creating new recipes, and passing his knowledge on to his children. His kitchen was often a gathering place where family and friends experienced his generosity and love through food. He also adored his faithful dog, Jack, and treasured spending time at Lake Wylie.
Richard had a lifelong love of music and could often be found attending concerts or enjoying live performances. In his younger years, he was an avid runner and cyclist and proudly participated in the Bike to the Bay ride for many years. He was a devoted Ohio State Buckeyes football fan and remained steadfast in his Christian faith throughout his life. His work ethic was unmatched, and he instilled that same value in his children through both his example and encouragement.
Above all, Richard valued family. He maintained close relationships with his brothers, speaking with them daily, and took immense pride in his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered for his warm heart, generous spirit, sense of humor, and unwavering dedication to those he loved. Richard's legacy lives on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all whose lives were enriched by his kindness, friendship, and love.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Palmetto Funeral Home in Fort Mill, South Carolina.
