Rock Hill, SC – Mr. Raymond Wallace Strait, 88, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The family will receive friends at 10:30 am Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Bass Cauthen Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 11:30. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park following the service.

A native of Rock Hill, SC, Mr. Strait was a son of the late James W Strait and Kathleen Canady Strait. Mr. Strait was a baptized member of First Baptist of Rock Hill. He was a long-term employee and retired from the Bowater Plant in Rock Hill. He took pride and received joy from his maintained lawn and was meticulous with his home. He enjoyed watching wrestling and football. He took an interest in antiques and nice cars. He will be remembered as a man who loved his family and friends and really appreciated their visits.

Surviving are his son, Billy Strait of North Myrtle Beach, SC; three daughters, Sandra Foreman (Michael) of Odenton, MD, Leslie Brown (Van) of Rock Hill, SC, and Michelle Smith (Ricky) of Ringgold, GA; two sisters, Betty Jo Byrum and Margaret Mitchell; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Strait was preceded in death by his wife, JoAn B. Strait; his siblings, James E. Strait, Billy E Strait, Frances Vinson, Catherine Deas, Doris Bagley, and Ruth Pace.
