Paul David Lail, proud papa, uncle, father and friend, of Indian Land SC, went to be with Jesus on April 17, 2026 following complications related to a stroke.
He was born in Charlotte, NC on January 15, 1962 to Roby and Sadie Lail, soon moving to Indian Land SC where he lived the remainder of his life. Paul graduated from Indian Land High School and went on to do various trade jobs. His most important job came in 2004 when he became a Papa to his grandson Christian Lail, whom he raised as his own. He spent the past 21 years making sure that Christian had a devoted provider, protector and mentor.
Paul David Lail was affectionately known by many as “Uncle Paul”. Uncle Paul was a loving and outgoing man who never met a stranger, and if he did, they did not stay a stranger for long. He was a loving father, son, and brother and a devoted grandfather, uncle, and friend. Uncle Paul was so much more than just a papa, uncle and friend, he was the life of the party! He made sure that every gathering was joyful and that everyone felt included. He turned ordinary moments into extraordinary ones with his infectious personality.
Uncle Paul lived big and loved even bigger. To know Uncle Paul was to know love. He was a warm hug, life lesson, a safe haven and the best time of your life all wrapped into a big comforting package.
Paul David Lail was preceded in death by his father and mother, Roby and Sadie Lail; his sister, Carol Lail Carnes; and his nephew, Daniel Aaron Lail. He leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, children, nieces and nephews, brothers and dear friends who will all surely miss him.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at 6:00pm with a memorial service to follow at 6:30pm at Palmetto Funeral Home.
