Nora Bravo

December 27, 1936 — December 25, 2025

Fort Mill, SC

Nora Bravo passed away on Christmas Day, just two days shy of her 89th birthday.

She grew up in Colombia, South America, the youngest of three sisters, Blanca, Early, and Nora. She remained close with her sisters throughout her life, even when distance kept them from living near one another. As a young woman, she lived in Mexico, an experience that stayed close to her heart. Later, back in Colombia, she met Guillermo Bravo, the love of her life. After knowing each other for just two weeks, they married, a bold and romantic choice that reflected her spirit. Soon after, they moved to the United States and began building their life together.

Nora and Guillermo started their family in Detroit, Michigan, where Nora became deeply involved in the Latin community. She embraced everyone she met who spoke Spanish and was known for warmly inviting friends and newcomers alike into her home for the many parties she loved to host. Her home was always filled with music, laughter, dancing, and good food. She especially loved mariachi music and took great joy in celebrating life with family and friends.

After moving out of Detroit, Nora continued her passion for community by founding Latinos of Livonia. She organized traditional Latino performances and proudly represented her native Colombia. Using her skills as a seamstress, she sewed all of the costumes for these performances.

Nora was meticulous and hardworking, taking great pride in her work at General Motors, where she sewed seats. That same strong work ethic shaped every part of her life, and she encouraged others to work hard and do their best, no matter the task. She continued sewing throughout her life, finding special joy in making gifts for her grandchildren. Above all, Nora was proud of her children and grandchildren and the happiness they brought into her life.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Guillermo, and her sister, Blanca.

Nora is survived by her sister, Early; her daughter, Sandra Savo, and son in law, Silvio; her grandsons, Maurizio and Lorenzo; her son, Edwin Bravo, and daughter in law, Leigh-Ann; and her grandchildren, Emelia, Lauren, and Daniel. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for her strength and devotion to family and community.
