Nhung Thi Dinh, lovingly known as “Grandma”, age 82, of Rock Hill, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 16, 2025, surrounded by her devoted family. She was born on March 2, 1943, in North Vietnam, the youngest child of Ong Ba Duong.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents; three older sisters, Hoa Dinh, Ru Dang, and Doan Dang; her cherished sons, The Nguyen and Cuong Nguyen; and her eldest daughter, Tuyet Nguyen.
Nhung lived a life defined by faith, family, and service. She believed deeply in working hard, staying true to herself, and entrusting everything to God. She was warm, kind, and generous, with a heart that welcomed everyone she met. Those who knew her will remember her gentle spirit, her radiant smile, and the way she could turn strangers into lifelong friends.
One of her greatest joys was cooking delicious Vietnamese meals for her family, especially Sunday brunch. She poured her love into every dish, filling the table with an abundance of food to ensure not only that everyone was well-fed, but also that each family member had plenty to bring home. Her kitchen was the heart of the family, a place where stories were shared, laughter echoed, and generations came together to honor tradition and love.
She also found fulfillment in caring for elders, supporting her church community, and teaching by example the importance of honesty, compassion, and perseverance. To her, nothing was more important than her family. She will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, nurturing mother, proud grandmother, joyful great-grandmother, loving sister, cherished aunt, and faithful friend.
She leaves a lasting legacy to be cherished by her family; her husband of 66 years, Tan Nguyen and her children and their families:
Daughter, Tuyet Nguyen (d. 2022) and Minh Nguyen, with their children Khank (Christine), Lee (Angel), Thuy-Kim (Seng), and Jeffrey (Noelle).
Son, Hung Nguyen and wife Hong Tran, with their children Heather, Helen, and Tommy.
Son, Dung Nguyen and wife Tuyet Nguyen, with their children Christian and Audrey.
Daughter, Trang Nguyen and husband Danh Nguyen, with their children Vivian, Katlyn, Daniel, Myra, and Mathew.
Daughter, Thuy Bui and husband Huy Bui, with their children Brayden, Preston, and Stella.
Son, Linh Nguyen and Oanh Nguyen, with their daughter Kendall.
In addition to her children and her 18 grandchildren, Nhung was blessed with 8 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense pride and joy.
Her memory will live on in their hearts, and her legacy of faith, family, and love will endure for generations to come.
