Michael Edward Morrow, 68, of Rock Hill, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on January 1, 2026. He was born on May 24, 1957, in Waynesville, North Carolina.
Michael—known to most as Mike—was a man who found happiness in simple joys and meaningful connections. He was an avid NASCAR fan and proudly supported the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and archery, and enjoyed trying out new gear. In recent years, he had even been contemplating the purchase of a boat, a quiet dream that reflected his love for being on the water.
Mike was a dedicated and hardworking man. He spent many years working for the Boy Scouts of America, where his reliability and strong work ethic were evident. He also enjoyed working in grounds maintenance at a local golf course. Most recently, he found great joy working at Bass Pro Shops, where he loved talking with coworkers and customers, always ready for a good conversation or shared story.
One of Mike’s greatest pleasures was traveling. He often drove cross-country to visit his daughter and her family in California, never rushing the journey. Instead, he turned each trip into an adventure, stopping at national parks along the way and savoring the experience of the open road.
Michael was preceded in death by his loving parents, Donald Edward Morrow and Eleanor Freeman Morrow, and by his nephew, Andrew Tyler Cheadle.
He is survived by his daughter, Amanda Johnson (Matthew) of Helendale, California; his beloved grandson, Mason Johnson, whom he adored; his sister, Donna Cheadle (Eric) of Hendersonville, North Carolina; his nephew, Adam Cheadle of Hendersonville, North Carolina; his niece, Allison Cheadle-Ghandi (Virshil) of Frisco, Texas; and two great-nephews. He also leaves behind his loyal travel companion and best friend, his dog, Mini Cooper.
A memorial service will be held on January 28, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Hendersonville Presbyterian Church, 699 N Grove St., Hendersonville, NC.
