Obituary

Michael James Davis, 55, of Rock Hill, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at home on June 9, 2026, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous two-year battle with esophageal cancer.

Born on April 11, 1971, in Nashua, New Hampshire, Michael was the son of the late James and Joyce Davis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved uncle, Bob Hammond.

Michael spent his early years in the Northeast before moving with his family to South Carolina. A few years after graduating from Northwestern High School, he relocated to Los Angeles, California, eager to begin a new chapter in life. As a young man, his work in industrial humidification allowed him to travel extensively around the world, exposing him to new places, cultures, and experiences that would leave a lasting impression on him. It was during those years that he met the love of his life, Angie, in the Philippines. The two married in 1998 and built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. In 1999, they welcomed their daughter, Jada, who became the light of Michael's life and one of his greatest sources of pride and joy.

After spending several years in Los Angeles, Michael and his family returned to Rock Hill to be closer to loved ones. He later transitioned into the car wash industry, where he earned the respect of colleagues and became a well-known and trusted presence throughout the Carolinas.

Michael had a gift for making people laugh and was always looking for ways to brighten someone's day. Whether through a quick joke, a witty remark, or simply his easygoing nature, he had a way of putting people at ease and leaving them smiling. He loved discovering new music, attending concerts, and seeking out restaurants featured on Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives.

Above all, Michael was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be remembered for his strength, kindness, sense of humor, generous spirit, and unwavering love for his family. Those same qualities carried him through his battle with cancer, which he faced with courage, determination, and grace.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Angie Davis of Rock Hill; his daughter, Jada Davis of Rock Hill; his sisters, Gail M. Armstrong (William) of Rock Hill and Elizabeth A. McCammon (David) of Rock Hill; his brother, Kyle H. Davis (Kate) of Missouri; his nieces, Lily Armstrong, Clara Armstrong and Sarah McCammon; his nephew, Jason McCammon; his aunts, Edith Blount and Nell Sebella; and many beloved cousins, extended family members and dear friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Family and friends will be invited to share stories, memories, and reflections in celebration of Michael's life.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Carnation Foundation or the American Cancer Society’s Esophageal Cancer Foundation in support of esophageal cancer research and patient care.
