Maureen Ann Ellis, lovingly known as “Reenie,” of Fort Mill, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2026, at the age of 74.
Born on September 13, 1951, in Alliance, Ohio, Reenie was the daughter of the late Donald and June Antrim Hole.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Lois Visinger; her brother and sister-in-law, Daryl and Claudia Hole; her brothers-in-law, David Ellis and Gregory Ellis; and her nephews, Daniel Visinger and Michael Ellis.
Reenie is survived by her devoted husband of 48 years, George A. Ellis Jr.; her stepdaughter, Kristen (Gary) Tisdale; sisters-in-law Karen Ellis and Linda (Scott) Bates; nieces and nephews Darci Visinger, Jim (Dawn) Ellis, Rebecca Ellis, Craig (Emily) Bates, Karie (Paul) Gessner, and Eric Bates; along with 12 beloved great-nieces and great-nephews.
Reenie graduated from Marlington High School in Alliance, Ohio. She spent many years working as a beautician before beginning a successful career in banking. She retired from Wachovia Bank after many dedicated years of service.
Known for her adventurous spirit, Reenie loved to travel and treasured the memories she made on numerous cruises and trips, including visits to Sweden and Jamaica. She had a deep love for animals, especially cats and horses, which held a special place in her heart throughout her life. As a child she enjoyed riding horses, and in recent years she eagerly anticipated annual trips with friends to Big Sky, Montana, where they worked at Sweet Grass Ranch helping round up cattle from the mountains.
Reenie also enjoyed sewing and quilting, cheering on the Carolina Panthers, and attending concerts, especially performances by P!NK. She will be remembered for her warmth, sense of adventure, love of family and friends, and compassionate heart.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to:
