Mary Margaret Parker (née Witt), 90, entered into eternal rest on May 19, 2026. Mary was born in Chicago, IL on April 15, 1936, the only daughter to Mary Margaret McCafferty and Edward George Witt. She became a nurse at age 21 and dedicated decades of her life to her nursing career. Mary married her husband Don Parker on November 23, 1957. They were blessed with four children and over 54 years of marriage. Mary and Don later moved to Charleston, SC where they spent their early retirement years and opened a lawn care franchise before fully retiring and enjoying time with their family. 

Mary never met a stranger. She was vivacious, welcoming to all, and endlessly generous. She was a compassionate nurse, loving mother, devoted wife, and a beloved grandmother; simply put, she was a caretaker to all.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Don Witt, her son McGee, her daughter Jennifer, and her beloved husband Don Parker. 

Mary is survived by her brother Fr. Edward Witt, SJ; her son Matt Parker; her daughter Katie Stephens; her grandchildren Genevieve, Margaret, Philip, Lauren, Samantha, John; and her six great-grandchildren. She will be sorely missed by her family and all who loved her.

Mary’s memorial service will be held at St. Philip Neri (292 Munn Rd E, Fort Mill, SC 29715) on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at 11:30 am. She will be laid to rest at Union Ridge Cemetery in Chicago, IL.
