Obituary

Mary Margaret Meyer (Augustin), 87, passed peacefully at her beloved home in Sun City, Indian Land, SC, on Monday, November 2, 2026. Beloved wife of 34 years to the late Robert Meyer. Loving mother of Dave (late Terri), Larry (Julie), Bernie (Rosie), and John (Veronica) Meyer. Known to many as Aunt Mary, MMM, Mare, and Grandmare, she was the proud grandmother of nine and great-grandmother of eleven. Daughter of the late Herman and Margaret Augustin. Sister of the late Nancy (late Michael) Bondi and Betty (late Samuel) Keenan.

Mary Margaret graduated from St. Justin’s High School and retired from the City of Cincinnati in 2002. Retirement did not slow her down. If anything, it gave her more time to be busy. Her calendar was always full, her pace was relentless, and almost no one could keep up with her itinerary. Many tried. Most needed a nap. She loved her retired life in Sun City and the many friends she made there.

No matter where life took her, Pittsburgh was always home.

Mary Margaret was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church. She was devoted to her Irish heritage and celebrated it at every opportunity, and if there wasn’t an occasion, she found one. She was a longtime member of the Daughters of Erin, an organization she dearly loved. She was also a passionate Pittsburgh Pirates fan, which took its own kind of faith. She began cheering them on at Forbes Field and followed the team to spring training for 20 years, keeping score by hand in her own scorebook at nearly every game she attended. Her love affair with baseball lasted a lifetime, and despite the current ownership, her allegiance to the Pirates never wavered. She is now at peace, doing the Irish jig in a place where the Pirates win the World Series.

She was deeply loved and will be missed immensely. Love You Untle Buntles, Mom. Relatives and friends are welcome to join us for a Celebration of Life at Carolina Lakes in Sun City, Indian Land, South Carolina, on Friday, November 6, from 11 AM to 1 PM, followed by a church service at St. Philip Neri at 2 PM. For those unable to attend, the church service may be viewed online at www.saintphilipneri.org. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Go Jen Go Foundation at gojengo.org.

The family will be planning a Celebration of Life at a later date in Pittsburgh.
