Mrs. Martha Wylie Fudge Clawson, 93, of McConnells, passed away at Brightmore of South Charlotte on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. Mrs. Clawson, a daughter of the late David Clyde Fudge and Martha Ella Simpson Fudge, was born on August 20, 1933, in Edgemoor. She was married to the late Jacob Harris (Todd) Clawson, Jr. for 36 years.
Martha grew up in Edgemoor and graduated from Lewisville High School.
She worked for the Rock Hill Telephone Company as an Accounting Clerk and retired after 44 years of faithful service. She was a member of Neely’s Creek ARP Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and sang in the choir, and then became a member of Olivet Presbyterian Church, where she was involved in various Women’s Ministries.
Mrs. Clawson is survived by her sister, Annie (Charles) Montgomery and brother-in-law, Gene Jordan of Edgemoor; stepson, Robert Harris (Buddy) Clawson (Regina) of McConnells; two stepdaughters, Mary Alice Clawson of Bowman, S.C. and Karen Ann Clawson Ransom of McConnells; stepdaughter-in-law Bennie Clawson of McConnells; four grandchildren, Jennifer C. Williams (Kenny), John Robert (Justin) Clawson, Hailey (Brandon) Avidon and Matthew Ransom; four great-grandchildren, Kathryne Anne Williams, Kaitlyn Williams, Jacob Avidon and Wyatt Avidon; eight nieces and nephews that she thought of like her own, Brad (Renea) Jordan, Lynda (Mark) Caskey, Jackie (Russell) Davis, Gene Jr. (Michelle) Jordan, Lynn (Scott) Moore, David (Heather) Montgomery, Susan (Sam) Prete, Derek Montgomery; twenty-one great nieces and nephews and eight great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Clawson was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Ella Fudge Jordan, Helen Fudge Jordan, and Elizabeth Fudge Jordan Howard; her brothers-in-law, Jack Jordan, Bobby Howard, and Melvin Jordan; stepson, John (Johnny) Bratton Clawson and stepsons-in-law, Randy Ransom and Todd Blair.
The family will receive friends at 1 pm Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at Union ARP Church in Richburg, SC. Funeral services will be held after visitation at 2 pm with Rev. Chip McArthur, followed with burial at Union Cemetery.
