Obituary

Marsha Claudette Hammond Evans peacefully entered the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, surrounded by the love of her family. While her passing leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, her legacy of faith, love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family and to Christ will continue to live on.

Marsha was the beloved wife of Glen Evans and a devoted mother to Colby (Grace) Evans and Hunter Evans. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Lydia and Timothy, who brought endless joy to her life. She cherished every moment spent with them and treasured every memory they created together.

She was preceded in death by her father, Roger Hammond, and her brothers, Bryan Hammond and Jeff Hammond.

She is lovingly survived by her husband, Glen Evans; her sons, Colby (Grace) Evans and Hunter Evans; her mother, Lydia Hammond; her brother, Mark Hammond; her cherished grandchildren, Lydia and Timothy; along with many extended family members, dear friends, and countless others whose lives were forever touched by her love.

Marsha had a remarkable gift for brightening every room she entered. Her radiant smile, infectious laughter, and joyful spirit made everyone around her feel welcome and loved. She never met a stranger, and her kindness left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Standing just five feet tall, Marsha was proof that a person’s stature has nothing to do with the size of their heart. She may have been small in height, but she was larger than life in every way that mattered. Her faith was immense, her love knew no limits, and her presence could fill any room. Even though she stood only five feet tall, she has left a hole in our hearts far greater than anyone her size should have been able to. We know she would be smiling and laughing at that thought.

Her faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life. She devoted much of her life to serving the youth through the Rooted Youth Group at Providence Baptist Church, faithfully investing in the lives of countless young people and pointing them toward Christ. She found great joy in sharing God’s love and encouraging others in their walk with the Lord.

Marsha also loved traveling with her husband, Glen. Whether exploring a new destination or revisiting a favorite place, she treasured every adventure and every opportunity to make memories together.

Above all else, Marsha loved her family with everything she had. She believed life was meant to be shared with those you love, and she never missed an opportunity to gather with family and friends. Her greatest joy came not from the places she visited, but from the people with whom she shared life’s journey.

As Marsha was surrounded by those she loved during her final moments on earth, she opened her eyes in the presence of the One she had faithfully served throughout her life.

If Marsha could leave one final message, it would simply be this: Come to Christ and be saved. Live a life filled with love and generosity. Cherish every opportunity to be with your family and friends. Seek the Lord in both the good times and the difficult ones, for He is faithful through them all.

Though our hearts are broken, we do not grieve without hope. We rejoice in the promise that Marsha is now healed, whole, and rejoicing in the presence of her Savior. Her beautiful smile, unwavering faith, compassionate heart, and the love she so freely gave will never be forgotten. Though she was a small woman, she leaves behind an enormous legacy and a space in our hearts that can never be filled.

Services will be held July 3rd, 2026 at Providence Baptist Church, 1947 Old Friendship Rd. Rock Hill SC.  Visitation at 11am and Celebration of Life at 12pm.
