Marcia L Holmstrom, 68 of Fort Mill SC (formally of Bristol CT) passed away at home on September 16, 2025, with her husband at her side. She was born February 14, 1957, to the late Warren and Betty (Cornwell) Wiese. Marcia worked for Cigna Insurance for 37 years.

Marcia was a kind and generous individual who always put the needs of others before her own. She had an infectious smile and made many friends easily. Marcia was adventurous; she enjoyed outdoor activities and loved to travel and explore other cultures.

She lived in Connecticut for many years and while there, she would often go to Vermont to go downhill skiing with Ray. She also skied x-country, both in Vermont and at Sessions Woods in Connecticut with her friend June. She enjoyed hitting tennis balls but found the game a bit too fast, so she began playing pickle ball several years ago and thoroughly enjoyed playing with Ray and friends.

Marcia was an avid traveler. She enjoyed going to the Caribbean to scuba dive in the warm waters. She also traveled extensively throughout Europe and visited all of the Scandinavian countries, and much of central Europe, including Germany and Italy, where she fulfilled her dream of taking a traditional gondola ride. She read extensively about Paris and was delighted to visit the historic city and see many of the cultural and historic sites, including the Eiffel Tower. She also had the opportunity to visit her and Ray’s friends Bonnie and Johannes in Bavaria.

Several years ago, Marcia and Ray moved to South Carolina which allowed her to be close to her family. She also became good friends with Jim and Helen LaCombe, with whom she explored new adventures and activities. She was involved with the New Southern Women Club, their ladies book club, the Knightsbridge Community Book Club and the Art Club. When Marcia finally decided to retire, she spent many hours practicing the piano and found a great teacher in her friend Meredith. She also enjoyed cooking and trying out new recipes on her husband from her numerous cookbooks.

Marcia is survived by her husband Raymond Holmstrom of Fort Mill SC (formally of Bristol CT) and her sisters Julie Wiese and Pamela Bronander (husband Frank) both from Augusta GA, brother Randy Wiese of Fort Waynne IN and a sister-law and friend Sharon Fenn of Berlin CT. Marcia leaves behind nephews Benjamen Wagner of Berlin Germany and Luke Bronander (wife Kelsey) of Irmo SC, nieces Paige Abitz (husband John) of Rome Italy, Tracey Townsend (husband Brady) of Leominster MA, Dr. Kimberly Fenn, of South Lyon, MI, and great nieces Cassandra and Alexandra Townsend of Leominster MA.

Marcia was a courageous woman. For over twenty years she lived with cancer but energetically approached life and continued working, traveling, and pursuing athletic endeavors. Throughout all of the treatments and operations, she was unwaveringly strong and never complained or burdened her friends or family. Her family and close friends now feel a great void in their lives and will miss their beautiful and courageous wife and friend.
