Marcella VanCamp Chancey passed away Thursday, September 3, 2026. She was 87 years old. She was born December 7, 1938 in West Virginia to the late Arthur Marcel VanCamp, Sr. and Kathleen Wirick VanCamp.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Ray Chancey, and two brothers, Arthur Marcel VanCamp, Jr. and James VanCamp, Sr.

Marcella was a physical therapist with a bachelor’s degree from Marshall University. She also attended Duke University. She was a member of Community Presbyterian Church for over four decades, where she also served as church secretary for much of that time.

Marcella was a dedicated mother and grandmother. Her favorite activities included arts & crafts, enjoying nature & traveling, and watching professional golf. Through the years, she was a dedicated supporter of the Fort Mill schools, in particular the marching bands and color guards.

She will be forever missed by her adoring family, her sister, Jean Ann VanCamp of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; son, John Chancey and wife, Heidi Tolley of Fort Mill, SC; daughter Caren Chancey and husband Stephen Stewart of Vienna, Virginia; and five granddaughters, Ella, Harper, Caroline, Melody, and Natalie.

A celebration of life will be held at Community Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, September 11th, with visitation beginning at 11:00 AM, service at noon, and interment following at Unity Cemetery Mausoleum.
