Madison Nidawi Cheyenne Canty

Madison Nidawi Cheyenne Canty, fondly known as Autumn, passed away peacefully on September 6th, 2025. She was a resident of Lancaster, SC. Madison was born on February 21, 2004 in Lancaster.

Services will be announced by Whitesell Funeral Home.  

Madison is survived by her parents Timothy and Cynthia Canty, Jerry Williams and April George-Painter, her grandparents; Richmond and June Carpenter, Phillip and Angel George, her siblings; her twin brother Benjamin Canty (Hannah), Jacob George-Perry, Noah George-Perry, Cameron Painter, Austin Donnell, Jarom Canty (Danielle), Suzanne Simmons (Brandon), Macey “Forest” Canty, Alexander Canty and Oliver Canty. Her Boyfriend Omar Ruiz, currently serving overseas in the US Army. Many loving Uncles and Aunts, Cousins and Friends. She mentioned her uncle Mark Carpenter and her aunt Kristen George had the greatest influence on decisions and aspirations she made in her life. She especially loved her best friend Autumn Awbrey.

Madison is preceded in death by her grandparents; Heyward Sr. and Sara Canty, Tira Foran and Lynn Willliams and her siblings; Carolyn Canty-Colon and Joseph Canty.

Madison was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints and also attended Red Path Baptist Church.

Madison was a Tribal Member of the Catawba Indian Nation.

She attended Lancaster Highschool and graduated from Gaston College Online Program, Dallas, NC in 2024. She had aspirations of attending college to be a therapist.

Madison was an avid reader. She enjoyed camping, swimming, painting, writing stories, crocheting, singing and attending Powwows. She loved ice cream, blueberries and changing her hair color. She could often be seen with blue, red, purple and green hair which matched her colorful and bright personality.

Madison’s Native name was Nidawi, which means pretty little fairy.

As Madison dances in the sky with the Creator she will shine down on all those she loved. Madison will be forever remembered for her loving nature.
