Lois “Jean” Kranz, 91, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend to so many, died peacefully on March 19, 2026 surrounded by those who loved her.
As a young girl, Jean dreamed of traveling the world and joined the Air Force in 1957 after completing her Registered Nurse training at York County hospital. While in the Air Force, she met and fell in love with George Kranz, a USAF fighter pilot. They married in 1960 and her focus changed to being a homemaker and she became a dedicated mother to her children.
She somehow did it all… Work, a church volunteer, attending school functions, bake sales, and decorating elaborately for the holidays. She was an unbelievable cook with “secret recipes” that she often shared with others. She created the most welcoming home and always enjoyed when her family and friends visited. Jean was an incredibly generous woman; she gladly shared all her blessings with those around her.
Her children remember Jean for her fierce loyalty and deep compassion as she cared for her husband, father, mother, grandfather and aunt when they were sick and dying.
Jean is survived by her son, Scott of Charlotte and sister, Carol of Lake Wylie, and friend Mary Alice of Concord. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, George; son, Steve; daughter, Tina; mother, Estelle; and father, Leo.
Out of respect for Jean’s wishes, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of the giver's choice.
