Lemuel Harris

Fort Mill, SC – Mr. Lemuel Harris, 91, went home of be with the Lord on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.

The family will receive friends 1:00 pm Monday, July 15, 2024, at Westerly Hills Baptist Church, Fort Mill and a funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm with the Rev. Roger Brown officiating.  Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park, Cherry Road.

A native of Gaffney, SC, Mr. Harris was a son of the late James Lewis Harris and Melzie Elizabeth Reynolds Harris.  He was a member of Westerly Hills Baptist Church for over 60 years where he served as a deacon.  Lem was also a member of the Gideon’s International where he served in the Fort Mill Camp.  He retired from the Celanese Corporation as a Supervisor after 40 years. He loved being outdoors doing yard work and gardening.

Surviving are his son, Tim Harris; a daughter, Kathy McCluney (Mac); a brother, Albert Harris; two sisters, Joan Hall, and Guyneda Jolley; two grandchildren, Travis McCluney and Derrick McCluney (Heather); three great-grandchildren; Gracie McCluney, Colby McCluney, and Madison McCluney; a brother-in-law, Joseph Ballard (Jan) and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty J. Ballard; a son, David Settlemyer; a brother, Bill Harris; three sisters, Kathleen Spencer, Mildred White, and Gwen Hancock.
