It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of our mother, Joy Nettles, who passed away peacefully at home on December 31st, 2024, at the age of 81.
Born on March 10th, 1943, in Ohio, she later moved to Rock Hill, SC where she worked and raised her family. She was a dedicated and loving wife to her late husband, John Nettles, Sr., and a wonderful “Mamoo” to her family and friends. She was a kind and generous soul with an easy-going personality who wanted everyone to be happy.
Joy lived a fulfilling life and enjoyed camping, fishing, and traveling. She also enjoyed socializing, especially with her Red Hat Club friends; but most of all, she enjoyed reading and solving crossword puzzles at home with her “fur babies” beside her.
We can now rejoice that she is reunited with her husband, John and beloved Great Dane, Greta.
She is survived by her children, John Nettles, Jr (Edie), Laury Wilson (Lloyd), and Catherine Casey (Trampis) 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, her brother, Richard Pierce, and her devoted friend and constant companion, Candi Gossett, all of whom will miss her dearly.
The funeral will be a private ceremony at Rock Hill Memorial Gardens, remembering Joy in the presence of family.
