Kent H. Adamson Jr. age 75, passed away September 7, 2026, at home, with family. He was born on July 12, 1951 in West Chicago, Illinois, to Kent Adamson and Mary Hines Adamson. 

He is survived by his spouse, Kathleen, son, David, David’s wife, Ashley and their daughter Camryn, his daughter, Andrea, and her daughters Gemini, and Cimani. He is also survived by his sister, Nancy Adamson, beloved friend, Barb Ruch, brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Lorie Huebner, and brother-in-law, Leland Ammons. Kent was preceded in death by his sister, Susan Mary Ammons. He was fond of his many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. 

Kent’s boyhood passions included playing football for West Chicago High School, participating in The Boy Scouts where he was invited to join The Order of the Arrow, and fishing, anytime and anyplace. He enjoyed a lifelong passion for collecting and repairing antique clocks and fine watches. He was also an avid coin collector. 

Kent worked at General Electric in DeKalb, IL as a finance professional, later transferring to Holland, Michigan, where he met his wife, Kathleen. They were married in Royal Oak, Michigan in 1985. During their many years together they lived in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Portland, Maine, and The Woodlands, Texas, before settling in Charlotte, NC. Most recently Kent and Kathleen resided in Denver, NC, at their townhome on Lake Norman. Kent earned his MBA from Indiana Wesleyan. In addition to his long career at General Electric, Kent taught Accounting and Finance for Indiana Wesleyan. He also worked for H&R Block.

 Kent was a heart and kidney transplant recipient. His medical conditions were many and complex, but he never let them define his life. The immense strength he exhibited in the face of overwhelming odds on many occasions led to respect and admiration. Kent lived life to the fullest, traveling broadly and experiencing many incredible adventures with family over the years. Most of all, Kent was a kind man. He was a gentle giant, humorous and loving. The times he enjoyed most were with family and friends, laughing, eating good food, fishing, traveling, and just being together. Kent will be deeply missed. We were fortunate to have him in our lives. He will live in our hearts for eternity. 

His love of animals made him a strong supporter of The Humane Society to which any memorials may be made.

 A celebration of Kent’s life will be planned at a future date.
