Obituary

Joyce Gail Strickland, affectionately known as “Granny,” passed away peacefully in her sleep. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose greatest joy in life was caring for and spending time with those she loved.

Joyce’s family was the center of her world. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren deeply and unconditionally. Her greatest happiness came from watching her family grow and creating memories with them. She was a source of love, strength, wisdom, and comfort to all who knew her.

She enjoyed gardening and found great peace and joy tending to her flowers and plants. Joyce often shared stories about her grandparents and spoke lovingly of the special impact they had on her life. The values they instilled in her were reflected in the kindness, generosity, and love she showed to her own family.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved grandparents, her brother, Jimmy Strickland, and her sister, Hazel Grainger.

She is survived by her brother, Frank Strickland(Janelle),her brother-in-law, Delmer Grainger; her sons, Steve Dorman and his wife, Donna Dorman, and Mike Dorman; her grandchildren, Michael Dorman, Brea Dorman, Stephen Dorman Jr. and his wife, Holly Dorman, Brandon Dorman, and Johnathan Dorman; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Stephen Dorman III and Cole Dorman. She also leaves behind numerous extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

Joyce will be remembered for her loving heart, gentle spirit, unwavering devotion to her family, and the warmth she brought into the lives of everyone around her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and family will continue to live on through those she leaves behind.

Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we take comfort in knowing that the love she shared and the memories she created will remain with us forever.

“Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure. She was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure."

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 24 at 1pm. Rock Hill Memorial Gardens.
