Joyce Elaine Vaughan Baker, 86, went home to be with the Lord on February 18, 2026. She was blessed to be at home surrounded by her family and friends. Her daughter was holding her hand as she entered into the loving arms of her Savior.
Joyce was born on April 11, 1939. A proud graduate of Rock Hill High School, Class of 1959, she served as historian and was an avid philatelist. Throughout her life, she was known for her servant’s heart and joyful spirit. Before retiring, Joyce worked as a delivery person for Parrish Flowers, where she found great joy in bringing smiles to others.
She was a faithful member of Harvest Ministries Church and was deeply involved in the “God’s Property” music ministry at Rock Hill Post Acute Center. Joyce was also one of the original seven members of the “God Squad” Friday Night Prayer Meeting, a testament to her steadfast faith and dedication to prayer.
Joyce found great joy in gardening, lovingly tending her flowers, and had a delightful hobby of collecting and wearing beautiful new hats. She cherished her family and friends above all else and leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and devotion.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roger Frank Baker; her infant daughter, Charlotte Ann Baker; her mother, Joan Hyatt Vaughan; her father, James Marvin Vaughan; and her brother, James Hobson Vaughan.
Joyce is survived by her sister, Ellen Delores Barrett (Ted); her daughter, Sheila Baker Tadlock (Bruce Scott); her son, Carl Jeffery Baker (Lisa); her grandchildren, Brandon Keith Tadlock, Allyson Elaine Tadlock, Joshua Matthew Baker, and Ariel Monique Baker (Cody); and her great-grandchildren, Maddie Tadlock, Bayleigh Johnson, Clayton Johnson, Spencer Gonzalez, Malian Baker, and Sophie Baker.
She is also survived by her nieces, Angie Spohn (Mike) and Pam Balentine (Jerry); and bonus-grands: McKenna Baird, Kristofer Durham, Chrissy Cook, Ashley Rain, Stephen Melton, and Laylah Terry.
A visitation will be held on March 15, 2026, at Harvest Ministries Church, 1211 S Anderson Rd, Rock Hill, SC 29730 receiving family and friends at 2:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life service at 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the South Carolina Scholastic 3D Archery Youth Organization, 1225 Little Roy Lane, Catawba, SC 29704. Joyce greatly enjoyed watching the youth of South Carolina practice archery and have fun outdoors at her home, and supporting this organization honors the joy she found in encouraging young people.
Whitesell Funeral Home is serving the Baker family.
