It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Wayne Demby, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at his home in Edgemoor, SC. Wayne was born on May 15, 1949, in Rock Hill, SC, to Clyde Richard Demby and Mary Elizabeth Demby, who preceded him in death.

Visitation will be 4:00-5:00pm on Saturday, June 27, 2026 followed by a funeral service at 5:30pm at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home, 700 Heckle Blvd, Rock Hill, SC with Rev. Mike Welsh officiating.

Wayne was a dedicated and skilled mechanic who retired from Star Paper Tube. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, camping, and grilling out. He was a car enthusiast and enjoyed crossword puzzles. He served 8 years in the National Guard.

Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Connie Sutton Hammond Demby; his former wife, Glenda Brown; his children, Regina Hinson (Vince), James "J.R." Demby (Heather), Tyler Hammond (Valerie), and Jayla Lambert; his brother, Scott Demby (Kay); his beloved grandchildren, Brittany Blackwell (Wyatt), Kaela Hinson, and Camryn Demby; and his great-grandchildren, Ava Blackwell, Blaze and Lailynn Hammond. Wayne was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Faye Demby.
