Jason Chik Ho Tong November 6, 1979 – October 14, 2025 Oakland, California
Jason Chik Ho Tong, lovingly known as Jayho, was born on November 6, 1979, in Hong Kong to Gwendolyn and Ivan Tong. At the age of 3, Jason immigrated with his family to Oakland, California, where he would meet many of his lifelong friends, become a proud older brother, and discover his undeniable love for sports — always cheering on his favorite teams, the then Oakland A’s, the 49ers and the Warriors.
As Jason grew, so did his faith in God. He found spiritual connection and community through church, and it was during his time at Young Life Camp Woodleaf where he met his wife, Jenny Tong. They quickly connected on their passion for outreach ministry. Together, Jason and Jenny built a life in Charlotte, North Carolina, where they raised their two beloved children, Jordan and Jocelyn Tong, along with their pets, Perry and Jesse. Jason’s family meant everything to him, and he devoted his life to being their primary caretaker — always putting their needs above his own with unwavering dedication.
Jason was not only an attentive husband, a loving father, a beloved son, and a protective brother, but he was also a man of many talents — technologically gifted, a self-trained chef, and a very competitive pickleball player. No matter where Jason was, his enthusiasm and joy were contagious. He brought warmth, laughter, and endless loyalty to every relationship he nurtured. His family was his world and his friends were his lifelong family.
Jason is survived by his wife Jenny, their cherished children Jordan and Jocelyn, his parents Gwendolyn and Ivan, his sister Cherena, his pets Perry and Jesse, and a wide circle of family and friends who loved him dearly. His life was a testament to love, faith, friendship, and the joy of shared passions.
As we deeply mourn his loss, we also honor his life by carrying forward his spirit of generosity, love, and light.
“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” — Jeremiah 29:11
