Jane Chin (nee Louie), 81, of Fort Mill, SC passed away peacefully on September 17, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.

A fiercely devoted wife and mother, loving grandmother, creative spirit, and passionate animal lover, Jane grew up in New York City with an eye for style and a sharp creative streak. She attended the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in NYC, bringing her talent to life working in couture and ready-to-wear.

Jane was anything but traditional. She proudly encouraged her children to color outside the lines, try anything once, and follow their passions wherever they led. She spent countless hours feeding their interests, including sports (soccer, swimming), conflict resolution, reading, and creative writing. She set a great example by mastering making bread from scratch and throwing herself into pottery. Jane supported the creative process in her husband and children, regardless if it showed up in art, language, numerics, first aid, or pyrotechnics.

Jane had a strong love for animals. She was a dedicated volunteer for the ASPCA, a host for many strays, and loved to train Rottweilers.

Jane is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Raymond Chin; her four children, Kristine Aronson, Conan Chin, Galen Chin, and Kelvin Chin; and her nine grandchildren who brought her endless joy: Karina, Rachel, Emily, Sophie, Lucy, Adeline, Juliet, Melanie, and Nicholas. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Tuey Gim Louie, her brother Lawrence Louie, and her sister Eva Lui.

A private service will be held in the coming weeks. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Ronald McDonald House or ASPCA.
