James Howard Sparks, 86, formerly of Countryview Lane, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at the Richard Michael Campbell Veterans Nursing Home in Anderson, SC. A native of Ruth, NC, Mr. Sparks was born August 10, 1924 a son of the late John and Lillie Robinson Sparks. He was a 1948 Graduate of N.C. State University with a degree in Textile Manufacturing and was a U.S. Army Air Corp Veteran. Surviving are his wife Evelyn J. Sparks; two daughters Nancy Elizabeth Jennings and her husband James Thaddeus of Chapel Hill, NC, Cynthia Ann Allison and her husband Michael Scott of Greenville, SC; two sisters Mary Thompson of Asheville, NC and Ann Sparks of Spindale, NC; four grandchildren James William and Sarah Elizabeth Jennings, Zachary Michael and Kaitlin Elizabeth Allison. A graveside service to celebrate the life of Mr. Sparks will be held Friday at 2:00pm at Rock Hill Memorial Gardens with Reverend Rick Martin officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made The Salvation Army, 119 S Charlotte Avenue, Rock Hill, SC 29730.
