James “Jim” Everett Kyle, 89, of Fort Mill, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on June 21, 2025. Born on July 18, 1935, in St. Bernice, Indiana, Jim lived a life marked by love, service, curiosity, and quiet strength.

A veteran, Jim first served in the Navy Reserves before joining the U.S. Army, where he distinguished himself as a sharpshooter. On October 6, 1956, he married the love of his life, Lexie, and together they built a beautiful life, celebrating 68 years of marriage filled with devotion, laughter, and enduring partnership.

Jim was a loving and devoted father to his daughter Elaine and late son William Joseph “Joey” Kyle. He found joy in spending time with family and pursued many hobbies with great passion. His love for learning and trying new things led him to master everything from intricate LEGO builds and puzzles to knitting beautifully crafted blankets that will continue to warm the hearts of those he leaves behind. Jim was a loyal Notre Dame fan and cheered on the Fighting Irish.

He is survived by his beloved wife Lexie; his daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Joey McCutcheon; grandsons Joey Jr. (Lindsay) McCutcheon and James (Brittany) McCutcheon; and great-grandchildren Cole, Carson, Ava, and Reid. He is also survived by his siblings Ron (Diane) Kyle and Carolyn Brown.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Clarence Kyle; his son William Joseph Kyle; and his grandson Will Kyle.

Jim will be remembered for his quiet wisdom, gentle humor, deep love for his family, and the legacy of creativity and curiosity he passed on to all who knew him.
