Mr. Griffin passed away at home on August 16, 2026. Born November 20, 1928 in Mecklenburg County, he was the son of the late Leroy Spain Griffin and Eva Collins Griffin. Mr. Griffin was a native Chartlottean, having moved to Indian Land, SC in 1998. He graduated from Sharon High School in 1948 and served his Country proudly in the US Army during the Korean War. He was employed with the Pure Oil Company for 17 years and then operated his own dry cleaning business in Pineville, NC for 25 years retiring in 1989.

Mr. Griffin was a life-long member of Ebenezer ARP Church, where he served as a former Deacon, Elder, and Sunday School Superintendent. Ebenezer ARP merged with Starmount ARP in August 2016 where he continued to serve as Elder and was presented Elder Emeritus in January 2017.

A funeral service for Mr. Griffin will be conducted at Starmount ARP Church, 1501 Starbrook Drive, Charlotte, NC, on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at 3:00pm with his Pastor, Rev. Alex Pizzuti officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be from 2:00pm until service time at the church. Interment will follow in the Ebenezer ARP Cemetery, 6210 Old Pineville Road, Charlotte, NC.

Mr. Griffin is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 76 years Linda Bass Griffin; three nieces, Gail Griffin, Newberry, SC, Sheila G. Gilbert (Randy), St. Johns, Fl., Lisa B. Bedinghaus ; two nephews, Milton Griffin, Conover, NC, Russ Baker (Teresa), Charlotte, NC.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Naomi G. Baker and three brothers, L.S. Griffin, Frank L. Griffin, M. Howard Griffin, Nephews, Marshall Griffin, Leonard Griffin, and Nieces, Janice G. Hollifield and Debbie G. Smith.
