Herman Thomas Barrentine

November 9, 1955 — July 19, 2025

Fort Mill - Herman Thomas Barrentine was born on November 9th, 1955, and peacefully passed on July 19th, 2025.

Herman was known for being an avid hunter and was a member of the Big Scrape Hunt Club for many years. He also enjoyed fishing, and he loved battling the stripers. He was an avid softball player, bowler, and golfer. He was such a goofball. You knew when you walked through the door if he liked you or not by the way he would cut up and joke with you. He loved his children, but he loved his grandchildren more. His golden doodle, Walter, was his partner in crime. Everywhere he went, Walter (the golden doodle), wasn’t far behind. Herman rekindled his relationship with the Lord. He was strong, independent, and respectful. He was always the first one there if you ever needed help and whenever he met a stranger, it wouldn’t take long for them to become a friend.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Lori, Herman’s hospice nurse, for the extraordinary care, compassion, and kindness she showed during his final days. Lori wasn’t just a nurse, she became a friend, a source of comfort, and a steady presence during a difficult time. Her warmth, patience, and gentle spirit brought peace not only to Herman, but to all of us who loved him. We will be forever grateful for the way she cared for him—with dignity, grace, and love.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kelly, and his children Tammy (Robin), Christopher, Walter (Currin), and Kaylan (Travis), as well as his grandchildren Mackenzie, Emma, Alex, Zoey, Paislee, Ethan, and Everly.

Herman is preceded in death by his mother Vera Barrentine Sweat, his bothers Tom (Glen), James (Buddy) and Darrell Barrentine, his grandson Kol Weston, and his late wife Susan Barrentine.

Herman’s service will be held at Lighthouse Pentecostal Holiness Church, as well as a gathering after for friends and family. Both the service and gathering will take place on Sunday July 27th at 3pm at Lighthouse Pentecostal Holiness Church, 333 US-21 S, Fort Mill, SC, 29715.
