Harold (Hal) Jones
(July 11, 1924 - April 24, 2018)

Harold Leroy Jones Jr., 93, of Tega Cay, passed peacefully in his home on Tuesday, April 24th, 2018. Born July 11, 1924 in Troy, New York, Hal was preceded in death by his loving wife Sheila of 68 years, parents Harold and Elizabeth Jones and step mother Agnes Jones. Hal attended Union College, receiving a degree in Biology. He served in the Army and was a veteran of World War II, where he was recruited as a Surgical Technician. He earned several medals, including the WWII Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Hal served as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion for several years and had a successful 35-year career as a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative with Upjohn. Hal and Sheila retired in the Pinehurst, NC area, where they were members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and enjoyed traveling, playing golf and where Hal acted in several plays at the Sunrise Theater in Southern Pines.

Although Hal achieved many academic, military and professional accomplishments, he will be remembered most by those closest to him for his engaging smile, sense of humor and words of encouragement. His love and devotion to family will remain in the hearts and minds of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Hal leaves to cherish his memory, his sister Elizabeth Reynolds and brother Gary Jones, his five children Craig Jones and wife Donna, Brian Jones and wife Jeanie, Mark Jones and wife Mary, Lisa Rowe and husband Ken and Kristen Jones Wright; grandchildren Kimberly, Katherine, Ian and wife Maisy, Jackie and husband Trevin, Abby, Lindsey, Melissa, Sheilah, Neil and Paige and great-grandchildren Matthew, Luke, Wyatt and Grace. A Mass celebrating his life will be held at a later date at Saint Philip Neri Catholic Church in Fort Mill, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of Harold L. Jones to Hospice & Palliative Care Palmetto Region, 1057 Red Ventures Drive, Fort Mill, SC 29707.
